MotoBergamo can trace its roots back to a small town in Wisconsin, USA a long, long time ago. It was there that Dave Kreibich discovered a love for motorcycles that has endured for fifty years. Along with that love of motorcycles came a desire to be a little different, as evidenced by the ape-hangers on a Big Bear Scrambler as well as the fatigue jacket/short-shorts/desert boots ensemble. As we all learn eventually, every idea is not a good one, but then who is to say that a chopper shouldn't go ringa-ding instead of potato-potato?
Fifty years of motorcycle ownership and half a million miles of riding have allowed Dave to distill the experience of motorcycling down to its essence. That essence does not include Bluetooth and cruise control. It does include sound and fury and wind in the face. |
Project 1In 2011 a Kawasaki W650 that had been gathering dust in the garage became the basis of the first project. It was a modest start, but this street tracker still turns heads and provides lots of bar-run fun to this day while reminding us how satisfying an elemental motorcycle can be. 650cc firing through cherry bomb mufflers always brings a smile to our face.

Project 2In 2012 Seth Kreibich built, with lots of help from 2Topia Cycles, what continues to be one of the favorite motorcycles in the stable, a 1994 Ducati 900ss with a full race 944cc motor and upgraded suspension. This animal introduced us to the shuddering, thundering, arm-popping thrill that the Ducati Supersports provide, and convinced us that they would be the basis for our first series of custom builds.

The SeedIt was a chance visit to the Bergamo Historic Grand Prix in Italy that convinced Dave that his second career was going to be restoring and customizing old motorcycles. The vision was clear.
